Dental Crowns
Where damage to a person’s teeth is extreme, and beyond repair by filling, we can often restore the tooth with a crown (often called “a cap”).
How long does it take to fit a dental crown?
Crowning a tooth requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and take an impression of it for the lab to use in fabricating the crown. We make a plastic temporary crown to be worn while the laboratory work is done.
On a subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown, fit and adjust the final crown, and cement it into place.
Benefits of Dental Crowns
Crown and bridgework is a very reliable solution for major dental problems resulting from accidents, disease, and wear and tear. Crowns can be made of gold, of porcelain, and of porcelain fused to gold.
